Production Update - 3/20/23

So let's start off with where things started to slip almost immediately after I decided I was going to do these semi-weekly production updates. My kid got strep! Then I got strep! So yeah, for about two week, things were really rough around the house. It's the first time I have had strep, and I gotta say... I'm not a fan. Then, I decided I was going to make things even more interesting and chaotic in my life. At the beginning of February, I decided I was going to quit working for the company I had been with for the past 8 years. There's a lot of baggage there, and if you really wanna know more, come hit me up in Discord. The transition period really wreaked havoc on my mental health. There was the nerves and guilt of leaving where I had been for so long, coupled with the nerves of starting somewhere new and needing to sort of prove myself again. The good news is that I have now been with my new company for about a month and things are starting to settle in and I am quite happy with the decision.

The interesting and unfortunate thing is, now that I have gotten this episode edited and released, I don't have any new content to work with. A peak behind the curtain is that we have not recorded a new session of Adventures in Erylia since like September of last year. However, we are looking to get together in April to record another session, and things have finally started to get back where I wanted them from an editing perspective, so I think we will release more than like 3 episodes this year! I went back to Hindenburg for my main editing and I replaced my keypad, both of which played a part in getting this episode out so close to the last one. I am actually in the Beta for Hindenburg Pro 2 and I am looking forward to giving their new Manuscript Editing feature a shot on the next episode. If it works, I think it will make the initial edit of an episode so much faster as I would be able to edit it like it is a text document.

Since I do not have any new audio to edit, I do have some goals for myself on the creator side of things for Adventures in Erylia. First, I bought a bundle of awesome sound design plugins from Krotos Audio during their Black Friday sale last year, but I haven't really gotten into using them. They are not compatible with Hindenburg, so I am going to look into setting them up with Reaper so I can start working them into my sound design when I need some more customized sound effects. Second, ever since launching the new website, I have actually been paying to keep the old one up and running. This is because there is a lot of old blog content that still brings people to the website through Google and I lose it all if I close the account. This means that you can expect to start seeing some old blog content start to get back filled on the updated website in the coming weeks. Who knows, maybe it will inspire me to get some new blog content done as well... Hmm...
